Elif Gürbüz is a London-based design director, artist, and researcher.

For over 15 years, she has worked with leading agencies across London, Amsterdam, Berlin and Istanbul, specialising in digital products, design systems, and rule-based art. With a deep understanding of design and technology, she works end-to-end with cross-functional teams, transforming conceptual ideas into engaging digital experiences. As an innovative leader, she runs an independent digital agency, Design Machine, establishing shared languages between creatives and technologists.

Elif’s art spans drawing, painting, and code, using formal and natural language rules to explore ambiguity and agency. Through algorithmic drawing, generative design and the language of code, she seeks to create pluralist collaboration models between humans and machines. She is currently pursuing a PhD at Central Saint Martins, exploring these topics with her research titled Drawing Like a Machine. She also teaches generative design workshops at Central Saint Martins and the Pratt Institute.

For a decade, she ran Muk Design, a mother-daughter stationery brand that now exists as an online archive of artist books, the Creative Minds Project.
